GPS – USB connection causes crazy mouse syndrome

by joe . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

For many years I had an older Garmin GPS running with my Categay laptop, but as I recall it was hard to set up. The garmin is designed for a serial port but the laptop only has USBs so I use the cable converted from Garmin.

After I had to replace the hard drive and reinstall all of my software, I can no longer get the GPS to work with windows XP. As soon as I plug it in I get crazy mouse action. I supposedly have the correct drivers sent to me by Garmin, but nothing seems to work.

One other change to the setup is I have added an aircard from Sprint to get internet connections from by boat, but I do not think this is interferring, but it could be.

All of my other software is working properly after being reinstalled.

How can I correct this?

Thanks,

Joe
