graphics cards

By Snuffy09 ·
when you see the model/numerical name of a graphics card like ati 4890 is 48 the model/series and 90 would be "general speed/higher performance?" in comparison to a 4830?

If so are nvida cards "read" the same way?

so a 5750 wouldn't necessarily be "better" than a 4890..?

obviously the real differences are in the specs of the card.

im just trying to prove a point to somebody...

thanks

Yes mostly

Though a 5750 is not necessarily faster than a 4890, though it likely supports a higher version of direct X and has a newer architecture.

nVidia kinda works the same way, they went from a XXXX to a XXX numbering system, in general the three digit ones are faster than the 4 digits.

Tomshardware.com is a good resource.
