Graphics Files and Windows Explorer

How do you setup NT4.0 to show the contents of a graphics file as the icon instead of showing the Icon of the associated program

Right click the current program icon. Select properties. Select Shortcut tab and then select change icon and browse to the icon you want to use and select this new icon or graphics. Good luck.
PS There are many free and fancy icons downloadable from internet sites - search and discover.

You can do it for bmp files using the method described here: http://www.davisstraub.com/secrets/chapter13/ch13Changing_BMP_Icons_to_Show_Thumb.htm

Not sure if you can do it for other graphics types.

If from Windows NT Explorer, follow this from menu bar - view - folder options - file types - *then select your file type - edit - change icon. done
