Group Policy

By info ·
We are a school and for a basic user I had setup a name and password called LAB Lab requires no password as I wanted it that way Then I changed the GP for users to have a password at least 6 letters or more expires every 90 days Someone tried to use lab with a password over and over again so it became locked out Now when I try to reset LAB with no password it is picking up the at least 6 letters policy ,no repeat passwords although I just removed it from the GP so I could do this are there other places to check for the policy to be effecting usernames

You'll have to set the policy on the local box. Just removing it from getting the GPO does not remove the settings if they have already been applied.

Use gpedit.msc on the machine to set the password policy on the machine.

So are you saying when you apply a group policy and it gets merged into a workstation in order to update or change the workstation you have to use gp.msc? I thought if you changed the server GP the workstations pick up on it overnight or if you force a GP update Or the the password policy stay in the wstation
