    Group Policy for Logon Scripts

    Locked

    by john719_58 ·

I am trying to setup a local policy to allow login scripts to run before the local user is prompted to logon. I have followed the Group Policy instructions in WIndows XP “Help and Support”, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks

You can do that by assigning a startup script for a computer.

What you can do is move the computer where user usually logs in, to the same OU as the user. Then you can assign a startup script for the Computer by editing the group policy and going to the Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts -> Startup.

This will run a specified startup script before any user logs in.

I guess I got it wrong.

I think you are referring to machines which are not part of a domain or local users. I am sorry as I was referring to domain users. My bad.
