Group Policy Problem

By GoodOlePop ·
I have a computer running XP on the network. It has full connectivity to the network as far as internet, printers etc. However there is no access to server resources. The RSoP.msc indicates the compter configuration is ok but the user settings have the folowing error: Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below. The format of the specified network name is invalid.

I can ping any machine on the network and ping the affected computer. This affects any user that logs on. But any user can log on anywhere else with no access problems.

Check if the DFS Client service is running on the workstation.

Don't you have any space in the network name or language specific signs.
i.e. space at the end of the name or ?, ?, ?,...

I solved this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the Client for Microsoft Networks. I found a comment that indicated the poster had had trouble w/McAfee that caused this type of problem on his computer thanks to all!
