Group Policy setting

By williamoshea ·
In NT 4.0,in system policies we could configure "commom shared program folder" (which appeared at the top section of Start, Program----). How do I do this in Windows 2000 using group policies or any other means?

You want to set it to something other than c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu ? Let me know, I bet it can be changed through group policies.

You can use GROUP POLICY / USER CONFIGURATION / FOLDER REDIRECTION / START MENU to redirect the user portion (i.e. old ?top bit?) of the start menu. Points to note:

1. It REPLACES (i.e. it does not combine) the user portion of the start menu
2. If the network location is unavailable, so will the shortcuts
3. To remove the policy DO NOT just delete the policy YOU MUST make the policy no longer apply by GPO filtering methods.
