Group Policy settings are not being applied and I cannot figure out why.

By ncsteelerfann ·
This is an XP machine on a Windows Server 2008 network. Looking at the Event Viewer, there is an error (event I 1054) stating that Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network and that the domain either does not exist or cannot be contacted. I have re-joined the domain, but the problem persists (yes, I can join the domain, but I am getting messages that the XP machine cannot connect to the domain controller).

I can ping the DC, I have verified that I can contact the DC through DNS, and I can even access the DC by using the AD Users and Computers snap-in from a MMC on the XP machine.

I am having no problems applying policies to a Vista machine.

Does anyone have any ideas?
