Group Policy vs WSUS Settings

By ed.chee ·
Ok, how do I workabout this?: Windows XP client (branch) log on to its Windows 2000 domain (HQ)for its services eg, email, intranet, etc. I have deployed WSUS in the branch and HQ deployed SUS. I have tweak the client PC registry to point to branch WSUS server. Everytime the Group Policy sync, it will point to HQ SUS.

Sounds like you will have to work with HQ to get a GPO added for the workstations in the branch office. This GPO could be set either on the OU for the Branch or the site (if they exist of course)

ought to just deploy Windows Software Update Service on the entire network and get rid of Software Update Service [SUS is old and being replaced by WSUS anyways].

Totally agree with answer two, ditch Sus and us WSUS in HQ, use Group Policy to role out to all clients, all sites (if required). You'll only end up doing this at a later date anyway.

Create an GPO on the OU containing your branch PC's. Add the WUAU template, configure it and then set block policy inheritance.

That should work.

I think.
