grouping files with similarity form different locations

By sezua2000 ·
i have different file in my computer that make me forget where i store them sometime.
So i decide to reorganize them, that those file contain common name, e.g Java for begginners and Java for proffessionals to be in the same folder.

Which command can be used to search and group them together moving them from different location and partition of the memory?
or is there a software tha can do that?
Please advise!!

more information needed........

What operating system are you using? It's tough to give you specifics without knowing what you're using.

If you're using Windows XP, have you tried using Start -> Search and then selecting "Documents", then select the Advanced options and use the "A word or phrase in file" option to search with? NOTE: Search can not read images and, depending on what version of Adobe Reader you have installed, may not be able to search PDF documents.

Once the search has completed, you can then select them all from the list provided and move them to where you want them to be. Be VERY careful here though. You could accidently move something that shouldn't be moved.

To answer your question, to the best of my knowledge, there is no single program that is capable of doing what you're asking. You're still going to have to do some manual moving.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer.

Click on 'Search' in the toolbar and choose which type / name of file you want to search for. :)
