Groupwise 5.5 Locks up Win98 PC

By gman29072 ·
I have a Win98 client running client 32 v3.21 and Groupwise 5.5 client locally. When she selects read mail from notify it locks up the pc. Tried removing and re-installing ms mail and Groupwise as outlined in a Novell TID to no avail. Any suggestions?

This may sound stupid, but I've had it fix more flaky GroupWise installations. Get the latest Microsoft Runtime Libraries from their web site. The file name (last I checked) SPEU.EXE. Run the install and restart. Then try your GroupWise. It _should_ fix the problems.

Adios

I have had similar problems on 98 with 5.5.

First, try goingback to 3.10 client (with SP2 applied) and see if the problem goes away.
Second, if you're bent on running 3.21 then you may also want to reinstall the TCP/IP stack. (There's another TID referencing this but I don't know the # off hand.) I have found this to fix about 6 out of 10 errors.
Last, check a file named MFC42.DLL and see what version it is. I have found that replacing it with version 7.32 also may fix this problem. (Youmay have to go to the 5.0 cd or an older client to find it.) Unfortunately I've had a copy for so long I don't recall where I found it, sorry.

Good Luck and hope this helped!

This helped some what, but still having lockups. I'm leaning towards a physical layer issue now. Thanks.
