Groupwise Async Gateway

By Novell Goddess ·
I am using a 4.1v2 Async Gateway between two external domains. The mail server on one side is Netware 5.0 and the server on the other side is Netware 4.11. Since upgrading the server from 4.11 to 5.0 I have had NUMEROUS problems. It is currently working (very slowly), with the exception of busy searches. Is anyone out there running this configuration? Also I am interested in knowing if anyone is doing this connection through a null modem connection. This servers actually set side by side. One is a govenment server and they won't let us connect our network. The async is my only hope of connecting these two email systems. I would very much appreciate any help that can be offered!!!

Thank you,

Groupwise Async Gateway

Debbi, several things to try, Make sure both servers are running the same comm nlms etc, this has been a problem in the past, downgrade the 5.x async nlm's to the older ones. As far as the null modem cable is concerned, I believe you must configureit for Xon/Xoff ONLY and make sure the cable your using is a custom one with just 3 or 4 pins 2 & 3 (for transmit and receive) and pin 5 (data ground). What about the option of setting up a bridge or a brouter with a second nic in the Gov server just for mail???
Or do they not want you to touch it at ALL, we know how they can be.
Good Luck
mike

Novell actually suggested downgrading the AIO and AIOCOMX nlms and the 5.0 server crashed. I do appreciate Mike responding to my message though.
