    Groupwise email Freeze!

    When installing new users in the Novell environment and then adding the client for Groupwise and Groupwise, the attempts to read mail freezes the groupwise process. This seems to happen on some workstations and not others. I have been told that this sometimes relates to Office 2000 applications. I have uninstalled all of office (and others) and still have this problem with groupwise not installing properly and or not being able to get to email without freezing. Does anyone have any remediesfor this problem?

      Sounds like the Groupwise database has become corrupt.

      In NWAdmin, go to Tools/Groupwise View. Find your PO, right-click on it and select “Mailbox/Library Maintenance”. Be sure you are on “Analyze/Fix Databases” then put a check mark next to Structure, Index Check, Contents, and Fix Problems. At the bottom, on the “Databases” tab, put a checkmark by User and Message. On the “Results” tab, you can have an email sent to Administrator or Individual users once the repair is complete.

      You may also want to find out if the client is accessing the server at all.

      Find the shortcut that starts Groupwise, get it’s properties and add “/@u-?” (without the quotes) at the end of it’s command line, apply it, then start the Groupwise client again. In the box that comes up, be sure the correct IP and port has been entered into the “TCP/IP Address” tab. Click OK, then cancel out of the startup. Remove the things you just added to the shortcut and try again.
