GUID/UUID

By ndaray ·
Where can I find the computer GUID/UUID on my computer. To manage a client from Win2k server, I must supply the GUID, but I can't find this unique identifier for the computer. Any help?

Open a command prompt and type "set".
See the string called "COMPUTERNAME"?
Or you could do a echo %COMPUTERNAME% on a command line as well. As far as a file goes..
I couldn't find anything other then a few reg key files that were cryptic.

you can make a backup copy of the GUI

In regedt32 navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography
Save the key as a text file such as GUID.TXT
The first item in the list is the actual GUID, so you may safely delete all of the other key blocks.
