Gumblar Virus

By camsbury ·
I have a pc infected with the gumblar virus and Mirar toolbar that cannot be removed. I have searched and not having any luck with removal instructions. Does anyone know how this can be removed? Currently loading Avast which I found one blog stating it's the only virus protection that detects it. Any input would be helpful.

You'll find more support by posting this as a Question instead of to the discussion groups. Just clikc Ask a Question button nright beside the Discussion button.

In short, ALL AV products will eventually detect and remove it, it just takes a bit of time for them to catch up.

You should always run an antivirus tool in Safe Mode with System restore turned off. Otherwise it may find but not remove things.

the virus could also be known under several other names, first off try removing your Mirar toolbar, then scan for any left over files using any of the common and free solutions. AdAware, AVG Free, SpyBot etc. It's also a good idea to boot into safe mode with networking, go onine and use and online scanner instead. Something like Trend Micro should do it.

Good luck and when you DO remove it, don't forget to post back with what you discovered, how you removed it etc. for others o benefit from.
