Another opportunity to show my ignorance

What’s “hacking my vehicle”? Is it anything like “pimping”?

As I first read this, I thought it refered to tweaking the computer chips to improve engine performance. Obviously that isn’t anything worth photographing, so I’m not sure what we’re talking about.

      Get a code reader

Not exactly a hack, but every self respecting geek should have a code reader handy. Twice, on vacation trips, that mysterious “Service Engine Soon” light has come on and there you are, in the middle of nowhere, not knowing whether it is serious or not.
The dealership said, “we’re overloaded, can’t get you in until tomorrow”. Both times, the problem read “slow leak in gas cap”. So R&R the gas cap, reset the light and keep going. Takes 5 minutes and there is no charge when you do it yourself.
