had to restart the spooler srvc to print

By pb ·
I have a network printer on a w2k pro, after starting windows, users on my network complain that they can't print their documents. So, I check my printer queues to notice that my printer is out of Paper which is false. I restart my printer spoolerservice and It then let the users print their documents. Does anyone have an idea?

If the driver for any network printers is changed, the spooler will have to be restarted. If you didn't change anything, maybe check the rights of the users to see if any of them have the ability to do so. You may also want to check your event logto see what happened before the service stopped (usually it's #7031).

There is a bug with the spooler in w2k which I gained knowledge of in a windows info mail list.
Nice try.

Hi,

Did you by using the domain administrators account installed a new printer on one of the workstations? In that case you created the problem by yourself...

Be sure to log in as local administrator on a client when installing new hardware additions.
