I’m trying to help a friend reload win xp. I formated the drive and loaded from the disk, but I’m getting the error that the hal.dll file is missing or corrupted. I can only get to a dos prompt, as windows won’t open. The DOS prompt is from the repair portion of the XP CD. Any suggestions? I have about 10 hours investged in this install on a Dell Inspiron (200) laptop, and have nothing.
