Half installed SP2

By pfft ·

I was installing SP2 without reading the requirements and didn't realise I would need a whopping 1.8 gig free for a 70mb file. So the install has taken up all my hdd space without finalising. How can I get rid of the already installed files. I have tracked down the files (I think) in C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\6ca7b3a8efd5a9b6f87fff395a2eb989
but the spuninst file will not work.

Any help much appreciated.

how to remove sp2

by kuyilathsatheesan In reply to Half installed SP2

U can remove sp2 in two ways.(1) from add/remove programmes in the control panel. If it does not work (2) by system restore. This sure will work. You can restore your system configurations to a date prior to the intallation of sp2. You can select this date from a calendar of 'system restore points' available. You can do this 'system restore' as many times as U want. There is no harm to your computer. To do the system restore: start>accessories>system tools>system restore .

I had to resort to system restore after installing sp2 as the media centre(My music) in my XP MCE 2004 was not functioning. I have searched for a solution for many days and ultimately resorted to 'system rstore' because nobody could help me.

U too can do this-if u cannot remove sp2 from the 'add/remove programme'.
best wishes.
