hang up before shut down

By NatCat ·
I have a 2000 machine on my network that ever so often will hang up when you try to shut down.
There is nothing in the event logs that indicate what went wrong.
I've also tried to shut down with different programs still running and network shared files open. But alas the machine shut down like a dream ;-)
No new programs where added (that I can see)
Is there any way I can troubleshoot this problem ?

Hey Nat -
I had the same problem one time. I found that enabling APM (Advanced Power Management) in Computer Management fixed my problem. You can read more about it here:

Let me know if this fixes it!

So far this has worked. The user is complaining that she now has to physically turn off the machine but thats much better than her complaining to me that her machine is not shutting down ;-)
