We have a lab of 30 computers and a whole mess of straglers that have a problem where the computers either freeze or reboot out of nowhere. The problems seems to happen mostly in PowerPoint and Excel. What would happen is they would go into PowerPoint, insert a text box, and as they’re typing it would just reboot. It seems to do it mostly on the keys E, R, D, and F.
All of the machines are running Windows 98se. We’ve tried updating to Office SR-1a, and IE 5.5-SP1. We’ve run scandisk anddefrag. The machines are running Fortres (a security program that locks down Windows, http://www.fortres.com), but it happens when the program is disabled as well.
Thanks for any help,
Matt Snead
