I bought a Maxtor 160GB hard drive n ma problem is:- in BIOS the HDD is being detected as 163GB whereas in windows only 130GB is seen n is accessible m actually loosing 30GB…. disk management utilities like Partition Magic… Acronis and even partitoning using FDISK doesnt seem to help!! i bought another disk which is SEAGATE 200GB and connected to another machine and i still have the same prob.. it is being detected in BIOS and works just fine until i partition and format it… i can only address and access 131GB… AM ACTUALLY LOOSING alot of important space… formating in NTFS… FAT32.. using Disk Utilities doesnt seem to help all that is happening is that the size keeps on changing ranging btw 100gb and 130gb. Does someone know a prob about this high capacity disks i.e above 130GB..do they have a prob about how much can be accessed? The jumpers… cabling slaving and the host machines are ok… what could be the prob….PLEAAASE HELP!!!!
