I am running Windows 98 on my PC. I have a software whose license file depends on the volume serial number of the hard disk. Initially when I purchased the software I got the license file from the vendor on the basis of the Volume serial number of my harddisk. But after some time I needed to format my hard disk. To my surprise the volume serial number of the hard disk changed after formatting and further more it keeps on changing on every format. I want to know “Is there any method of formatting the hard disk with a control over the Volume Serial Number so that I can get the same initial serial number and make that software work again??”
