Hard Drive

By techrepublic ·
My computer rebooted and i'm getting the blue screen of death. So I pulled the drive and put it into my external hard enclosure and my system reads the drive but in the disk management mmc its saying its a foreign drive. How do I get access to the drive?

I srongly suspect that if you can't boot from the drive and if you can't access thru management, the MBR is corrupt. This will block you out from seeing anything on the drive unless you can restore. Try booting to the OS CD and see if you can repair from there. That just might work but if not, get a new drive and hope you backed up the data.

Boot from Windows XP CD (I hope this is your OS), press R for repair, chose your OS HDD and partition and run FIXMBR command, and after terminate this, run the FIXBOOT command. Restart your computer and try to boot from your HDD. Good luck!
