I have a Gateway P-7811FX with Vista Home Premium 64- Bit. I recently had my older desktop die on me, but I needed music, and more importantly, University assignments from my old harddrive. I bought an Aluratek docking enclosure for fairly cheap because I am a poor student (especially after buying my laptop). When I got it all hooked up, the external drive opened up, but said it had 232 GB of 232 GB free space. I read some of the other questions on here, and as suggested by one individual I checked out the Davory Data Recovery. I ran into one of it’s listed limitations though, “On Windows NT/2000/XP, administrator privileges are required to access most media types.” It is a Western Digital WD2500JS Vaciar SE.
I looked online, and there are no slave settings for it.
I was using Windows XP.
If anyone has the foggiest clue what I should do here, please, please do tell me.
