Hard drive failure

By Shanghai Sam ·
On a Penium III, with windows 2000. I rebooted up my PC, and I heard a ticking sound coming from my hard drive, I tried booting it up again, still same problem. On the bios screen, hard drive failure error message appeared. I would like to save the information on my hard drive. I almost sounded like the stylus was stuck. Thanks for your responces

Hard drive failure

by TheChas In reply to Hard drive failure

Go to the download section of Tech Republic, and download 200 ways to revive a dead hard drive.

If the data is valuable, you might want to contact one of the data recovery services first.
While expensive, they would be your best bet to recover the data.

Do not attempt to use the drive again until you have decided on a solution path. The more you boot it, the more data may be lost.
