Hard Drive Installation Problems

By hvossen ·
Replaced a 13G Quantum Hard Drive with a 60G Western Digital Hard Drive. I have a 40G Maxtor Hard Drive as a slave. This hard drive is loaded with info that I want to retain. My problem is the computer reconizes both the 60G & 40G hard drives in theSystem Devices but will not allow me to access the 40G. It has assigned letters C&amp to the 60G.
Computer Info
Compaq Presario 5457 (475 Mhz)
OS Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Master HD Westerrn Digital WDC WD600BB-75CAA0 (60G)
Slave HD Maxtor a8t/r50404 (40G) Value 200 Pts

Hard Drives are on the same IDE channel. Both drives are divided into 2 partitions. The WD 60G is the Master & the Max 40G is the slave. Ju 5-6 & 1-2 on 60G (10 pin selection). Ju 5-6 on 40G (9 pin selection). 60G has Drive letters A& D assigned to it. 40G HD doesn't have any letters assigned to it. The BIOS(2A5IMG09)is probably 1999 vintage as the Computer was purchased new on Dec 26/1999. NB:I actually had better luck with Win98 SE as it assigned letters C & E to the 60G and D to 1/2 the 40G. Should I go back to Win98 SE OS?

If the original 13G Quantum had only one partition on it, having two partitions on the 60WD is the problem.
Reimage the 60WD the same as the 13 was, just with a larger partition.
This is an OS problem.
