Hard drive issue

By Ravens22 ·
My Dell PC office computer has shut down. I keep getting the same screen.

Here's what the screen says.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Disable or uninstall anti-virus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart computer.

My computer experience is limited. I tried F8 and tried to work in the SAFE MODE- but it keeps coming back to this screen. I also tried to go back to the last GOOD KNOWN CONFIGURATION, but it goes back to the same screen.

Please advise what would be the next steps in getting my computer up and running.

I would first backup all your data off the computer .
then use ubcd or ubcd4win (bootable cd/dvd) do a disk diagnotsic, or even use the Dell built in diags in the bios.

from there if the disk checks out ok either do a Dell factory restory, or using the Windows CD the system came with boot off of it and format/relead the system clean.
