Hard drive not detected by BIOS

by dls318 . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I was trying to change power supplies from an old computer to my new one because my computer kept turning off in the middle of a game whenever i tried to play.

The old power supply didnt have enough components to plug everything into my newer computer so I just decided to put it back in the old computer and use it.

The old computer’s hard drive was broken so I took the newest HDD and put it in.

Now when I try to turn the computer on it says:

“Diskette drive 0 seek failure
Primary drive 0 not found
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility”

When I press F1 nothing happens, just a line that says something like “Press F1 to retry”. F2 takes me to the setup and under hard drive it says “Hard Drive (not installed)”.

Any idea why it isn’t working? It was working before i took it out of my new computer so I don’t think it’s a problem with the hard drive. It’s a different kind of hard drive than the old one too, the SATA cable is a thick pink cable, the old one was a flat cable.
