Question

Locked

Hard drive not detected

By b.ajohnson ·
I recently upgraded my hard drive to a 500gb seagate and was running windows XP. All was well until yesterday when I started computer and it froze at the first screen where you can use the delete button to enter Bios. Pressed delete nothing happened. Removed battery and hard drive which to my suprise it let me go into Bios setup. installed new battery and connected up hd but freezes at the same point.

Couple of things to check here

Start off with the Easy things try connecting a different HDD to this M'Board. If it still falls over replace the Power Supply.

If it works with a different HDD try fitting this 500 GIG Drive to either a USB Adapter Lead or a USB Enclosure. If the system falls over when you plug in the USB Lead the HDD is dead and well and truly in Silicon Heaven. If the system works try testing the Drive with Seatools from Seagate available here

But I honestly do not think you'll get that far as I think you'll find that the HDD is dead.
