Hard Drive & Win 98

By DaVor* ·
Trying to add a second hard drive, installs fine, is seen in the bios, and it can be seen in the device manager.

But when you open exployer it is not there.

Second hard drive

by DaVor* In reply to Formatted?

The second hard drive, was the second hard drive from another system.

I put the hard drive into another system just to make sure it is working and it is.

The difference is, the test system is a 450 and the system that it is going-in is a 133.

is it formatted FAT16 or FAT32?

a FAT 32 drive will read a FAT16 drive but not the other way around.

Check your hardware settings

The problem may lie in your hardware settings. Make sure that the jumpers on the drives are set up so the primary is the master and the secondary is the slave. you can have a one master and slave per IDE port but never two of the same type. Check your boot device settings in the BIOS and all should go well at system restart.
