Hard drive with bad block

by dgolfnut . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I have a 3 month old seagate hard drive which failed (BSD) almost immediately after installing a failing drive from my daughters computer into my computer for testing. I now have that seagate drive in another computer I bought just for testing hardware and software so I never screw up my main computer again while trying to fix another one.
I don’t really want to send the drive back under warranty because it has all my data on it. I would prefer to re-format that bad block and be able to re-use it my replacement fails. Is that possible / advisable and what software would I need to do that?

Dave
