Harddrive crash – freezer?

by mr. origami . Updated 23 years, 4 months ago

I heard if you suffer a harddrive crash, you can put it in the freezer for x-amount of minuites and SOMETIMES this would fix the drive enough as to where you can get at least SOME of the data off of it (as opposed to spending $1500+ with a data recovery company). Any websites with this information? My 9GB SCSI drive is clicking and the BIOS won’t even recognize it. And yes – I removed the drive as soon as I heard the clicking and saw the BIOS didn’t see it. Again yes – clicks without the data cable attached also.
