Is the printer connected to a router or connected directly to your computer

by Peconet Tietokoneet In reply to hardware connection

If the printer is connected to your router then you will need to know your routers ip address, i,e, 192.168.x.x, where the x's are either 1.1 or 0.1. Once you know this then go into your printer section of Windows and then click on "add printer" type in your routers ip address and then select your printer type (you might need to up date the windows list here), once done you should be able to print normally as if the printer is connected directly to your computer. If your printer is connected directly to your other computer then you need to make sure that you go into the "share" section of Windows. Right click on the printer and then select "share", once done you should be able to have access to your printer.

Laser Printer IP address

Can you ping the IP address assigned to the printer?

If you can't and it's static then ensure that it has a gateway address.
