The only thing that baffles me about Windows XP is: How can you check the boxes to enable DMA specs for your CD-ROM drives in the O/S? It does not have the area that Windows ME has in it's hardware devices to choose to be able to enable it! I'm stumped... Thanks, and hope to hear from you soon.

In XP, the DMA mode settings are located in the device settings for the IDE controller that the drive is connected to.
Make sure that the DMA mode is set in the BIOS settings for the drive/channel.
You can still access device manager from right clicking on my computer, and selecting properties.
You can access device manager, and the drive control panel that has more drive settings from; Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Managment. This is where you can assign drive letters, run defrag, etc.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
