What changes did you make to the server here?

by OH Smeg Moderator In reply to hardware error

But in the mean time try removing the Power Plug from the Router and leaving it for about 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. It may be something as simple as a Power Spike scrambling it or it could be something that you did to the server.

I set up active directory, dns roles and after doing so I could no longer communicate with the server.

Did Oh Smeg's suggestion work?

by jfuller05 In reply to roles

If not, is your router configuring DHCP? The router should not provide dhcp, your server should be providing dhcp.

Another suggestion came to mind. Check your network card's manufacturer's website for a newer driver for your card, if so, update and see if that works. Also check the settings (such as link speed) of your NIC in the Device Manager, modify them (such as a lower speed) to check how it works.

Did you reboot your server and router for the changes to take affect?
Just a thought.
