Windows NT never had the ability to automatically detect and install hardware the same way as Windows 9x or Windows 2000/XP does. In order to add a device, you will need to make sure you have Windows NT-compatible drivers, and they will usually include a setup utility to properly add them to the machine.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Shawn

In NT4 you add hardware in various places:
Printers
SCSI Devices
Modem
Devices
Networking
etc

There is no central Device Manager like 9x/2K/XP.
Devices can be installed via Setup or a control panel (see above).
