Hardware profiles selecting a default an

By OtazMan ·
I have a Windows 98SE laptop that we have setup a Hardware Profile for. The profile is the usual in office out of office kind of configuration. The laptop is not using a docking station so it can not figure out which configuration to use. Is there anyway to select a default configuration with a time delay if the user has not entered anything?

Could you be ruthless and delete the unwanted profile? System Icon, Hardware Profile. Possibly not! You could control the profiles via settings in Config.sys.
Quote from Windows 98 Resource Kit:Each hardware profile has a name that matches a top-level menu item in a multiconfigured Config.sys file (that is, the long text in the menu, not the section name enclosed in square brackets). Windows 98 automatically selects that multiconfiguration menu item and processes the corresponding section of Config.sys.

Not all features can be accessed with the config file!
