Delete the contents of the "Temporary Internet Files" folder.

Delete the ".TMP" files in the temporary folder.

Delete ".SPL" files (print spool).

Delete ".CHK" files (from check disk).

Delete ".BAK" files (backup).

Delete old and unnecessary email (especially ones with attachments).

Uninstall any unnecessary programs (From the add/remove programs in control panel).

Empty the recycle bin.

And don't forget to do run disk defrag when you're done.

Answer one is good, additionally I would reset the amount of space that the recycle bin and the Internet Temp files reserve. This space is allocated even if it is not used. By default, recycle uses 10% of harddrive space, try reducing it to 2% andthe same with IExplorer.
