have a new printer and not sure of type of cable to use

I bought a new Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer the other day. Of course, like all printers, doesn’t come with a USB cable. Nor does it mention anywhere in the manual what type you need, it just assumes we are all computer savvy. From a few searches it looks like I might need an A/B connector. However, the front of the printer has a connector that an “A” type plugs into. And the back of my computer has several similiar looking “A” type connectors. So exactly where is the “B” connection supposed to be if all my searches tell me thats what one end should be? I don’t have any connector that would accept the “B” type. this is very frustrating not being able to use my new printer because I can’t figure out what cable to use. Anyone offer any insight?
