Have I got a virus? Or has TR added adverts to the Threads?

By OldER Mycroft ·
I'm only asking because any previous Unexpected browser content has always had a ~Porn~ angle to it.

This is the first time I've felt like running a full system scan before realising the content is ALL computer/IT related.

The adverts have always been there

It's one of the reasons that TR has such a focus on page views.

How is Velcro kitty?

Yesterday, Velcro reached THAT point where the sight of a distant Crow or Blackbird causes her teeth to rattle and her 'voice' to emit like a chattering sound!!!

Next it'll be me in my bare feet squidging into something of a morning.

Completely normal

Your display is different but I see much the same and always have.

With that said, I have been running into odd display errors for the last couple of hours. One page will render properly, the next as if the code had been stripped out.

They are planning an outage in the next 45 minutes and I know that the goal is to try to contain some of what we have been seeing lately. Outages generally last from 30 to 60 minutes.

Tell Velcro not to bring her supper home.

Wow. It's true?

I've never seen anything like that. Maybe it's that Adblock Plus add-on in FF that's working for me. (To kind of repeat myself)

I think you've got something going on there. Try using Adblock Plus add-on to FF and see if they go away.

do what I do, and only have minimal javascript functionality on TR, then half the ads go away.

I don't know why there should be any difference

between what you see and what I see. I've never seen anything like what you show in your screenshot. Too weird. If you ever figure it out please post your solution. <br><br>
The only thing I do besides Adblock Plus is run regular scans with AVG's Anti-Spyware. It seems to pick up things that Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware SE Personal don't get. If it was me I'd try that. Other than that I have no clue. I'm using the default settings in FF

Addendum to the above

My Adblock Plus shows that it's blocking 18 of 83 items on this page. What does yours show?

The TR screen seems fine

I noticed you have a few news feed and other links toolbars taking up real estate that I assume you use. If not, just use the 'view>toolbars' path in the menu bar to disable what you don't want.

If that is elementary information, sorry, but you never know. What seems simple to some may be new by another.
Th etech ads on the right pane are normal, eve with Firefox unfortunately.

But we don't pay for TR,I suppose some poor schmuck has to. :)

On another note, being a Brit I thought you may be amused....I just finished downloading the Clangers 1969 entire season (sure they are only 10 minute shows but what a clasic! Sure looks a lot more elementary than it did when I was a little one. Also downloaded the Wombles, surprisingly enough they are less than 5 minutes each. Another UK classic kids show, I use them to keep younger family amused at Christmas.

Still looking for the origingal Magic Roundabout and Bill & Ben the Flower Pot men. Found some old On the Buses episodes and Dad's Army a while back too. What a blast! Good to see the internet and file sharing has kept them alive.
