Having a hard time getting IP off 3COM Switch

By chipcouncill ·
We have a Cisco Router 2800 hooked up to a 3Com Baseline Switch 2024 which is hooked up to a 3Com Superstack 3 Switch 3250, now we hook up a null modem cable to the 3250 and nothing. I am trying to configure the switch to handle multiple VLANs but can not find out what the IP is of the 3250. Any help out there??? Thanks in advance!

ip display info

never seen 3250 but on most 3300 series swiches, you can jus type:

ip int dis

or you can go through individual menus:

ip

interface

display

that should tell you the ip address assigned to the switch.

is it manageable hardware

3Com Baseline series are unmanaged switch series . 3250 has one managed and one unmanaged I think. Besides if you connect to the serial console port it will ask you input an ip address . In other words it is unconfigured . Try to get the console login prompt and then give the switch an ip number and a net mask .

If you are having many VLAN:
- where is each VLAN interface
- where is the DHCP server connected
- did you added the UDP helpers
