Having trouble remove a Trojan Horse

By steak1986 ·
I have a computer that has a trojan horse on it, named 'Trojan Horse'. I have symantec corporate edition, and I have found one trojan. It is currently residing in the pwdmon.dll file in \windows\system32, I have been to the symantec site and they told me to run a scan then just click remove, unfortunately it is rarely that simple. I also followed the directions and turned off system restor booted into safe mode, scanned the file and found the virus again; then I tired to delete it and it was a no go. Anyone have any ideas of how to remove this? Thanks in advanced

First go into the registry and clear any entries in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run area that don't belong there.

Next, if you have a way to do it, like using ERD commander, boot the server from a CD and then navigoate to it and delete that DLL file. Clear all temp directories as well.

Since you've already gotten rid of the restores you should be ok.

Best of luck

Go to www.malwarebytes.org
Download the app, update it and run.
This program even works on antivirus2010 (the newest). I've had great luck with this, and it's free.
