HDD Partition Problem

By tingo_2k ·

I wanted installing my system with Win 2000. It has a 40 GB HDD. I had my data on D drive of about 8 GB of previously partitioned drive which was (15,15,10). The strange thing was when I removed the first two partition it remained same showing 15GB unpartitioned drive and 15GB unpartitioned drive with the remaining 10GB formatted partition.

So I when I tried installing in one of the partition, it didnt work. So when I couldnt think of anything else, I thought maybe when I boot with another HDD it would be possible. But that didnt work. So finally I resorted to installing Win 2000 in my remaining 10 GB data drive. It worked and everythings was OK. But the problem started when I booting it from the other HDD.

I can see only win XP. It is a 80GB. It has three partitions, Win XP Pro, SuSe, and two data drives. Some how the data drives and SuSe partitions has been corrupted and now my friends data is stuck in that drive which I want to retrieve.I tried several softwares, but the problem is eveytime I use it every software shows different partition structure. How to find out where the data are and how to retireve it?
