and a drive letter.

Go to control panel -- administraive tools -- computer management -- disk management

you should see the second drive there, and action items that can be done to it

Format new partitions

The C: drive (1st partition) would have been formatted automatically when you installed XP.

You need to load Disk Management console and select the 2nd partition and format it and once that is done, it will appear in explorer.

We need to know

by Gone Fishing In reply to HDD Partitions...

What operating system or systems?
Will there be more than one? (Windows/Linux)
What versions? (Windows XP, Vista, 98, ME)

How many partitions will you need for each OS?

Is there old data on the Hard Drive you need to save?

For Dos ,Windows 95, 98, ME you used Fdisk to create partitions.
For Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista it is different.
Same for Linux and other OS.
