Heres the situation, client has new PC with windows installed on 160GB SATA drive, they use a LASER removable caddy for backup purposes which is connected to the motherboard via IDE cable. When there is no drive in the caddy the PC boots normally and everything works fine, however once the client slides the caddy in and tries to boot, the BIOS defaults the HDD priority to the IDE (primary) channel, as this is just a back up drive the PC does not boot. I can change the disk priority to boot from SATA, PC boots fine, once the backup drive is removed for safe keeping BIOS defaults back to SATA drive, once the backup drive is plugged back in for the next backup, BIOS has once again defaulted to IDE channel. Is there any way to permanently set it to SATA regardless of what other drives are being plugged in. ASUS P5KPL/1600 motherboard, AMI BIOS Rev 0507.
