Headache Linux

Well Sorry for my english….
I have questions regarding on this Linus Operating Systems And Here’s the short story..

I discover when i install Linux on my pc I have to detach my Video card on my mother board then when i already did that is the time i can install Linux i cant install w/ my video card attached to my pc.. now im having problems when i put the vcard back on, Linux cant boot on i have to dp this vcard back on for my autocad 2004 i installed most previous versions like ubuntu,fedora,pclinux2007 and i found out thesame thing.. is it true that linux doesnt support videocards how can i used my vcard. I have to put it bcoz i have windows Xp that can run my autocad i dual boot it.. its a hussle thing when i used linux i have to detached it to my mboard and when i will used windows i have to put it back again…. duh!!

What do you think is the best Linux for me???
My Pc Is

intel P4 2.66Mhz, 512mb ram, 256 Vcard nvidia geforce fx5500…

help me anyone if this is true that linux donot support hardwares like vcards well im not going to use it when it will just give me headaches…
