Headset mic doesn’t work

I just bought a new Stealth gaming headset, and today I got a cable splitter for it. Whenever I go to test my mic to play it back, I don’t hear my voice, but instead, my mic picks up my headphone sounds. Even when my mic is not muted, it picks up the sounds from my headphones.

I’ve checked multiple times to see if my mic is muted and it’s not, it’s all on and full volume, but It doesn’t pick up my voice.

When I switch the headphones button to the mic outlet and vice versa for my mic on HD Audio Deck, it seems to pick up my voice on Discord but I can’t hear it if I record it and look back on it.

I really hope someone can help me with this.

Is the mic set as the default Sound Input?

I’ve tried setting it to default lots of times in Sound Settings –> Sound Control Panel –> Recording, but it never does anything if that’s what you mean

What about in the software where it’s not working?

Quite often the software also need the default set not just the Hardware.

I don’t really know how to set the software to default, but I contacted the headset’s support team and they reckon it’s faulty. So I think I’m just going to get a refund, and if it still doesn’t work, I’ll be sure to seek more support.

I would take it back to the seller and get them to test it

If your headset has a Mute button, make sure it isn’t active. Make sure that your microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer. Make sure that your microphone or headset is the system default recording device.
