Help! Certain HTML emails are received as plain text

By m0m0 ·
OS: Windows 7
Software: Outlook 2007

The problem faced is that certain emails are received as plain text messages even though the sender originally sent in HTML format. My outlook is set to send and receive in HTML. I do not use AVG software. I called MS tech to no avail. I tried uninstalling and reinstallying outlook and even made a new profile to see if it will correct the problem. None worked.

Another person in the office with the same OS and outlook program is able to receive the same email as HTML. Please help!

Spamfilter/Antivirus/Security on mailserver?

by TobiF In reply to Help! Certain HTML email ...

First of all. I don't have Outlook 2007 myself, so I can't try these things myself, but I would start looking around the following:

Do you know if there is some kind of spam filter, antivirus and/or other security software on your mail server.
(it should be)

The "converted to text" messages, do they originate in your own organization, or outside.

Do you have the senders of these mails among your contacts in outlook?

In what mail program was the original message created. (That may be visible if you carefully check the mail headers, you may need support from an administrator on this, I don't know how much of the original headers are visible in outlook.)

While checking the mail headers, look carefully for additional clues theare about what kind of software may have decided to throw away the html part of your message.
