help closing and opening ports on win2k

I am having some difficuly closing ports on my win2k network. I could do it fine in NT but i just installed 2k and dont know how to check if the ports are open/closed, or how to go about closing or opening them. for all i know everything could be open right now.

pls help

These settings are specific to each network card that you have installed on your system. So go to the properties of the network card you wish to edit. Then choose the 'TCP/IP Protocol' and click [Properties]. Click [Advanced], then Click the 'Options' tab. There you can configure 'TCP/IP Filtering' which I hope is what you were looking for.
The NETSTAT command may not give you exactly what you need. You should probably download an IP toolkit of some kind which includes a TCP/UDP port scanner.
Also, if this system has a dedicated connection to the Internet, you can go to DSLReports.com and get a security scan performed on your system. It will list most open ports and vulnerabilities for each, as well as solutions.
